- Data searches were conducted through a systematic literature search and a supplementary internet search
- The following data were gathered:
- Epidemiology
- Humanistic burden (quality of life)
- Medical burden (direct and indirect cost)
- Scope
- France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the UK
- Data were evaluated with respect to validity and eligibility for the planned cost calculation
Analyze
- Cost of illness calculations for each country were performed based on the retrieved data
- Additionally, expert interviews were conducted to fill gaps/confirm findings and assumptions
Communicate
- The comprehensive cost-of-illness report included a detailed explanation of the methodology and a list of sources used
- A separate Excel document containing a summary of the cost calculations in a user-friendly interface was also developed
