Case Studies
Early Phase Portfolio Assessment
Background and Objectives
A leading global pharmaceutical manufacturer engaged Analytica to assess the market potential for a number of products in the early phases of their development pipeline. This analysis was to include a P&R evaluation of each target product profile and an overview of the clinical environment for each corresponding disease area.
Approach
To address the client's objectives, Analytica incorporated secondary research, primary research, and internal expertise to assess the clinical landscape, payer environment, and product performance for each of the client's pipeline products.
Secondary research efforts targeted the following factors for all disease areas:
- Current treatment patterns and available therapies
- Key pipeline therapies and their respective stages of development
- Trends in P&R for therapies in the relevant disease areas
Analytica supplemented those findings with primary research efforts with payers from key markets. This research was conducted for each of the pipeline therapies and examined a number of crucial parameters which affect market access.
Results
The outcome of this effort was a comprehensive portfolio assessment comparing perceived value and P&R potential between pipeline products and across markets. Based on these findings, the client was able to reassess product development plans and shift priorities to maximize future pricing and reimbursement potential of their products.
